Which Terminal Do You Arrive At?

Flights from abroad arrive at Terminal 2, and flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other Vietnamese cities arrive at Terminal 1. The buildings stand side by side, linked by a covered walkway that takes five minutes on foot.

After Landing at Terminal 2

You go through immigration, then baggage belts 1–4, then customs. The automatic gates are for Vietnamese passports only, so foreign visitors queue at the counters. Check the date on your entry stamp before you walk away: a wrong date is much harder to fix later. To see how many days your passport gets, use the Vietnam visa calculator.

SIM counters work in the baggage claim area, and ATMs and exchange counters wait in the arrival hall. My advice: change only enough for the first day here, since rates in town are better.

Grab drivers pick up at points 6 and 7 under the viaduct at Terminal 2, and at points 11 and 12 at Terminal 1. They can wait for three minutes only, so book once your bags are on the trolley. The taxi rank is in the second lane outside the arrival hall, and buses stop at pillars 7 and 8 of Terminal 2 or pillar 2 of Terminal 1.

Meeting Someone at the Airport

Wait in the public arrival hall on the ground floor. At Terminal 1, passengers come out through exits A3 and A4. Parking costs 10,000 VND ($0.38) for the first 10 minutes, with no free period.

From late November 2026, one of the two runways closes for reconstruction until 2028, so delays at peak hours get more likely. Check the board before you leave home.
