Which Terminal Do You Fly From?

Terminal 2 handles international departures, and Terminal 1 handles flights to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the rest of Vietnam. Pick the right terminal when you book a Grab: the drop-off ramps are separate, with entrances A and B at T2 and D1–D3 at T1. A Grab from the center costs 70,000–120,000 VND ($3–5) as of October 2026.

Friends who came to see you off say goodbye at the door of Terminal 2: only passengers may enter its check-in hall from 8am to midnight.

How Early to Arrive at Da Nang Airport

Flight Arrive Check-in closes
International (Terminal 2) 3 hours before 60 minutes before
Domestic (Terminal 1) 2 hours before 40 minutes before

Terminal 2 was built for 4 million passengers a year and handled 6.8 million in 2025, so add an hour around Tet, the Lunar New Year, and during the fireworks festival in June and July. From late November 2026, one of the two runways closes for reconstruction until 2028, which makes delays at peak hours more likely.

Power Banks and Liquids

Since July 1, 2026, every flight in Vietnam follows the same power bank rules:

  • two power banks per passenger at most, in carry-on luggage only;
  • up to 100 Wh without approval, 100–160 Wh with the airline’s permission;
  • no charging from a power bank during the flight.

Liquids in your carry-on go in containers of up to 100 ml, all in one clear bag of up to 1 liter.

Passport Control on the Way Out

The officer at exit passport control checks your entry stamp. If you’ve stayed past it, the fine starts at 500,000–2,000,000 VND ($19–76) for up to 15 days, and deportation becomes possible from day 16. For a longer overstay, go to the immigration office at 78 Le Loi Street before you head to the airport. To check your last legal day, use the Vietnam visa calculator.
